Welcome to my website.

I am Daphne Creed, owner of Springfield Stores, Hardington Moor which has been in my family for more than 100 years. My mother, Phyllis Taylor, took over the running of the shop from Granny, Susan White, in 1936. I took over from my mother in 1991.

With so many Post Offices closing in surrounding villages, I have been fortunate to have been able to keep mine running with great support from the villagers.

In 2009 I was awarded the Somerset County Council’s Chairman’s award for services to the community. And in 2011, I received the MBE from Her Majesty the Queen for services to the community of Hardington Mandeville.

I have been Churchwarden of St. Mary’s Church, Hardington Mandeville for over 25 years and Hon. Secretary for Hardington Mandeville Village Hall for the same amount of time. I get involved with all aspects of village life and try to help with fundraising etc. whenever I can.

I have 2 sons and daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren – 2 boys and 2 girls. My husband, Dave, died in 2016 of Motor Neurone Disease and I now have family living with me.
